Hi Maria, Thanks for reaching out. For the two medium trees you described (a ~30 ft mountain ash and a ~25 ft cherry) we estimate 3.5 to 6.0 hours of pruning work with a ground crew, which comes to about $840 to $1,800. This range reflects the scope described and includes a margin for unexpected complications. Lower end of the range would be if both trees are easily accessible from the front yard, the mountain ash has a moderate amount of deadwood and the cherry only needs light thinning. The higher end applies if the mountain ash has extensive deadwood, branches over structures or cars, access is tight, or we need extra rigging or cleanup time. Regarding timing, late winter to early spring is generally best for structural pruning and helps reduce disease risk for cherry trees; fall can be appropriate for some species too. Dead branches on the mountain ash can be removed any time. Pruning in dormant season is sometimes easier but not always significantly cheaper. We sometimes offer a modest senior discount or seasonal promotions; mention this when booking and we will see what applies to your job. I can schedule a quick site visit to confirm sizes and give a firm written quote; you do not need to be home and we can be flexible with timing. If you prefer, you can also email photos of the trees and their proximity to your house or wires and I can refine the estimate. Thanks, and feel free to give us a shout if you have any questions, Max, Calgary Tree Care & Arborist Service (587) 329-7161

Hi Maria, Thanks, I really appreciate that. Absolutely, I have passed your request along to the owner and they will contact you directly to coordinate a time to come by and take a look. Based on what you described so far, the rough estimate is still in the $840 to $1,800 range for the mountain ash and cherry pruning, with cleanup and disposal included. Once the trees are seen in person, we can tighten that up into a firm written quote. If you happen to have any photos handy in the meantime, feel free to send them over, but it is not necessary if you would prefer an on-site estimate.
