Hi Rebecca, Thanks for reaching out. Based on a large willow with a visible crack, my initial estimate to safely remove the tree is $1,800–$3,600. The lower end assumes straightforward front-yard access, a single main stem, no overhead wires, and room to work away from the house; the higher end reflects multi-stem willows, significant decay or internal rot, tight access or work very close to your house that requires extra rigging and safety measures. Please email a few photos (wide shot and a close-up of the crack), an approximate tree height, the distance to your house or other structures, and whether there are overhead wires or tight gates. Also let us know any preferred dates. We can do a quick site visit to confirm scope and final pricing; you do not need to be home and we can schedule flexibly. Thanks, and feel free to give us a shout if you have any questions, Max, Calgary Tree Care & Arborist Service (587) 329-7161

Hi Max, The tree is 10 ft from my house. No overhead wires. There is another large tree on the other side of the front lawn (not sure if that is an issue). I have no idea how tall the tree is but my boyfriend just guessed 40ft. Let me know if these pictures help or if you need more. Hi Rebecca, Thanks, that helps a lot. Based on what you've sent so far, a 40 ft willow about 10 ft from the house with no overhead wires would likely fall in the $1,800 to $2,700 range for removal, including cleanup and disposal. The visible crack is the main factor, since it can change how the tree needs to be dismantled safely. The other large tree on the lawn may or may not affect the job, depending on how close it is and whether it limits working space, but it does not automatically create a problem. Your photos may be enough to narrow things down further, but because this one has a crack and is close to the house, I would recommend a quick site visit to confirm the safest approach and final price. You do not need to be home for that. I've passed this along and the owner will contact you directly to coordinate scheduling. If you'd like, you can also let us know whether you want stump grinding priced separately as well. Best, Max Calgary Tree Care & Arborist Service (587) 329-7161

Hi Rebecca, Absolutely, we can price stump grinding separately. For the willow you described, stump grinding would likely be an additional $250 to $500, depending mainly on the stump diameter and root flare. That would be separate from the current $1,800 to $2,700 estimate for the tree removal, which already includes cleanup and disposal. Because the tree has a visible crack and is close to the house, we would still want to confirm everything with a quick site visit before finalizing the price. I've passed that along, and the owner will contact you directly to coordinate scheduling. If you want, we can quote the removal only, or removal plus stump grinding as separate line items when finalized. Best, Max Calgary Tree Care & Arborist Service (587) 329-7161

Thank you! It would be good to get separate stump grinding cost.
