For a walk-behind stump grinder we estimate about 4.5 to 6.75 hours of work, which comes to approximately $1,080 to $2,025. The lower end assumes relatively shallow, firm stumps, easy access, and minimal cleanup, while the higher end covers deep roots, heavy root mass, extra cleanup or disposal, and any unforeseen complications. If you have a bobcat with a grinder attachment on site we can usually move faster; estimated time about 3.6 to 5.4 hours and an approximate price of $864 to $1,296 if you supply the machine. If you need us to bring a machine we will add equipment mobilization and operator costs and confirm that price after you tell us whether you need that service. Can you confirm whether you will have the bobcat and attachment on site, what grind depth you prefer (flush or 6–12 inches below grade), and whether you want the grindings removed? Grind 5 lilac stumps (one ~2-3 ft diameter, four smaller) plus 2 poplar stumps (~2+ ft diameter). Easy access but not passable by a bobcat attachment for all stumps; customer has rented an attachment but missed poplars. Customer asked for quotes for both walk-behind and bobcat methods.
