Hi David, Thanks for reaching out. We can definitely do a health assessment and treatment plan for your 10 columnar aspen and follow up with aphid control if appropriate. Based on what you described, a preliminary range for assessment plus initial treatment is approximately $850 to $2,050. The lower end assumes minor aphid infestation, easy access, and that a single spray and targeted monitoring will resolve the issue. The higher end accounts for confirmed canker or fungal work needing pruning, repeat treatments, tighter access, or work close to structures which increases time and care required. I recommend a quick on-site assessment so we can confirm the diagnosis, check severity, and give a firm quote; we can often do this without you needing to be home and we schedule fast and flexibly. If you’re able to text photos of the trees and close-ups of the affected areas that will speed things up. Do you want me to book a site visit? Also please let me know where the trees are on the property, any access constraints, and if you are comfortable with pesticide application. Thanks, and feel free to give us a shout if you have any questions, Max, Calgary Tree Care & Arborist Service (587) 329-7161

10 columnar aspen planted 4 years ago with aphid/honeydew and wasp attraction; possible canker/fungal infection suspected. Customer would like spraying for aphids and guidance to prevent tree loss.

Hi there - you work fast! I don’t think they all have aphids, certainly a few are worse. I’m happy to do a site inspection. The trees are all located in my backyard. I have gates either side that aren’t locked so access is easy. I will be home most of tomorrow but I’m happy for you to check whenever.  Dave Sent from Yahoo Mail for iPhone On Saturday, September 19, 2026, 3:54 PM, Calgary Tree Care & Arborist Service <info@calgarytreecareservice.ca> wrote: Hi David, Thanks for reaching out. Hi Dave, Thanks, that is very helpful. Easy backyard access through the side gates is perfect, and it's useful to know that only a few of the aspens seem worse than the others. An on-site inspection is the right next step so we can confirm whether this is mainly aphids, or if there are any canker or fungal issues that need pruning or a different treatment approach. I've passed your site visit request along to the owner, and they will contact you directly to coordinate scheduling. Since you've said access is open, they may be able to take a look even if you are not home. At this stage, the preliminary range is still about $850 to $2,050, and we can tighten that up once the trees are assessed in person. If you happen to have any photos of the worst-affected trees or close-ups of the leaves or trunks, feel free to send them over, as that may help speed things up.
