Hi Elizabeth, We can do a health assessment for your apple tree and advise on the mushrooms at the trunk—that symptom often points to internal decay and is worth checking promptly. Based on what you described, an on-site diagnostic and written recommendation typically ranges from $600 to $1,200. The lower end applies if access is easy, decay is minimal, and no specialist testing or immediate mitigation is needed. The higher end applies if we find advanced internal rot, work close to the house or utilities, need climbing or additional testing, or if stabilization/removal is required. If you can, please text a couple of clear photos of the trunk base and the area around the tree and confirm whether the tree is within about 3 metres of your house or any power lines. Also let us know the best times to reach you by text. We offer a quick site visit if you’d like us to inspect in person; you don’t need to be home and we can schedule flexibly to suit you.
