Multiple fir trees with browning needles along property and neighboring property; possible insect or disease issue. Customer prefers phone contact.
Hi Rod, Thanks for getting in touch about the firs; we can do a health assessment to identify the cause and recommend next steps. Based on a typical diagnostic visit, I can offer a quoted range of $600 to $1,200 for the assessment and written recommendations. The lower end reflects a quick on-site inspection of a small number of trees with easy access and visible symptoms and no lab testing. The higher end applies if there are many trees including neighbor trees, limited or steep access, climbing or ladder work, or if samples and lab tests are needed to confirm pests or disease. Could you send a few photos of the affected trees, an estimate of how many trees are involved and their size, and any access notes? We can follow up by phone at the number you provided to book a site visit. We offer fast, flexible site visits and you do not need to be home for the inspection. Thanks, and feel free to give us a shout if you have any questions, Max, Calgary Tree Care & Arborist Service (587) 329-7161
Thanks for the quick reply. I will get photos in the morning along with the number of trees and approximate size. I will touch base with my neighbor also. Hi Rod, Thanks, I appreciate the update. That sounds good. Once you send the photos, along with the tree count and approximate size, we can review everything and advise on the next step. If your neighbor would like us to look at their trees as part of the same visit, feel free to include that as well. Once we have that information, we can firm things up and, if needed, your request can be forwarded to the owner for scheduling. Best, Max Calgary Tree Care & Arborist Service (587) 329-7161
Good Morning; After an e-mail conversation last night it was requested that I send photos of the trees and sizes so you could do a rough estimate. The photo is the property lay out, so there are some trees on the west side of the driveway, some to the south of the house, two parallel with the road and two on the east side of the pond. More photos to follow. Hi Rod, Thanks for sending that over, the property layout is helpful. I can see there are multiple tree groupings around the site, including along the driveway, south of the house, near the road, and by the pond. Once the additional photos come through, along with the approximate tree heights and total number of affected trees, we should be able to tighten up the rough estimate for the assessment. For now, the preliminary range of $600 to $1,200 still makes sense based on what we know so far. Send the rest of the photos whenever convenient, and we will review everything and advise on the next step. Best, Max Calgary Tree Care & Arborist Service (587) 329-7161
The first photo shows my neighbors trees which are west of our driveway. Our two trees on the west side of our driveway do not show any signs of this yet. The second photo is for a tree at the south end of our driveway on the east side of the driveway it shows some signs of the same issue. This tree is about 15-18 feet tall and about 10 feet wide. The next photos are for a group of three trees to the south of the house that have the dead needle issue. Two trees about 30' tall and about 12' wide, the small tree is about 20'X8'. More to follow. Hi Rod, Thanks, this is very helpful. Based on the photos and the tree details you sent over so far, I can tighten the rough estimate for the health assessment to about $750 to $1,100. That range would cover an on-site assessment of the affected firs and recommendations on likely cause and next steps. The final amount will depend mainly on the total number of trees included, whether your neighbor wants theirs looked at as part of the same visit, and whether sample collection or lab testing is needed. From what you have described so far, it sounds like we are looking at at least one affected tree near the driveway and three south of the house, with the neighboring trees also showing similar symptoms. If you would like, send the remaining photos whenever convenient and we can review those as well. If you are ready to move ahead with an assessment, I can also pass this along to the owner and they will contact you directly to coordinate scheduling. The first photo is for trees just east of the septic tank there are a few in this lower area. They are the first two photos, about 20' X 8". The next two are for trees on the berm parallel with the road, about 20'X10'. The last photo is for two trees east of the pond, 10-12' high by 6' wide. They do show signs of the dead needles. Hi Rod, Thanks, that helps a lot. With the additional photos and tree details, I can tighten the assessment range to about $900 to $1,300 for an on-site health inspection and recommendations. That range reflects the number of affected firs now spread across several parts of the property, including the area by the septic tank, the berm along the road, the pond area, the driveway, and the trees south of the house. If your neighbor would also like their trees included in the same visit, or if sample collection or lab testing is needed, that would be on the higher end. If you would like to move ahead, I can pass this along to the owner and they will contact you directly to coordinate the site visit. Best, Max Calgary Tree Care & Arborist Service (587) 329-7161
I am prepared to move ahead as soon as you can schedule it. Hi Rod, Thanks, I appreciate that. I have passed your request along to the owner, and they will contact you directly to coordinate scheduling for the site visit. The current quoted range for the assessment remains $900 to $1,300, depending on the final scope and whether any sample collection or lab testing is needed. If your neighbor would also like their trees looked at during the same visit, feel free to mention that when the owner reaches out. Best, Max Calgary Tree Care & Arborist Service (587) 329-7161
